      Is it possible to directly connect a printer to the MaxiSys Elite through the USB port and eliminate the need for a computer? My searches only result in "Wireless" printing methods which require a computer but people I work with are convinced there's a way to do without one.

     Maybe if you dig up an old android phone with Kit Kat and can get it to work you could with a MaxiSys Elite :-)
